About Ryan

Ryan Cox brings over 25 years of pharmacy experience, including 20 years in managed care, to Precision. Prior to coming to Precision, Ryan was Director of Specialty Pharmacy at Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, where he was responsible for overall specialty drug strategy. He led initiatives that focused on optimizing utilization and reimbursement for specialty medications. His responsibilities included collaborative work with Highmark’s IDN, the Allegheny Health Network (AHN) and community providers to implement new clinical programs, including the Cancer Collaborative program and development of care pathways with AHN’s Autoimmunity Institute. Prior to that, he was Highmark’s Director of Clinical Pharmacy Strategies, overseeing the development and execution of strategy for Highmark’s formulary management and utilization management programs. He also worked closely with pharmaceutical manufacturers on implementing risk-based contracts. Before Highmark, Ryan held senior leadership positions at Humana, CareSource, and Anthem (WellPoint). Ryan was responsible for implementing multiple innovative formulary and utilization management programs across multiple lines of business.

At Precision, Ryan has provided strategic guidance and support for multiple clients, including several oncology products. The combination of his knowledge and expertise in payer management of specialty medications, provides clients with real-world perspectives to guide strategy, messaging, and pull-through for successful launches and optimized access for label expansions throughout the product life cycle. His therapeutic areas of expertise include specialty drug management, oncology, asthma, and diabetes, with additional experience in optimizing site of service for injectable medications.
